This is incredibly helpful, thank you.

I'm with you in analytical or experiential posts definitely working the best - if you can offer value, authenticity and intimacy, messages will reach your audience more effectively. Tricky to pull off tho - you definitely have to have a lot of trust in your writer/s.

I agree with Mary's point about responsive posts too - being part of the conversation can show real engagement in the issues that affect your customers.

Excellent summary of the different types of blogging styles and how and WHEN they can be used effectively. I am mostly and educational blogger but it is nice to mix up your posting style to acquire larger audiences and emotionally engage people. It also depends on your primary demographic/psychographic which style you should focus on. For example- my demographic is baby boomer business/entrepreneur women so tutorial marketing resonates with them. But because my market intersects smaller portions of the GenX/Y - I need to responsive and controversial from time to time to maintain those readers. Successful blogging is all about knowing good copyrighting techniques and solid traditional marketing tools like market segmenting and demographics to best engage and convert your readers.

This is a great overview. I really liked your summary on posts in response to a crisis. I also think that a speedy and honest response is really important. If the crisis can be used as a learning opportunity for the company then its also great to point that out. For example, if the crisis caused the company to change a policy or solve a problem to address the 'crisis'.
