Thanks Joel,
Setting up FriendFeed, which I love, wasn't much trouble, and right now, we're doing little more with it than sending a variety of content there.
But it is another way to reach out to readers, and a convenient way to package material from the print edition as well as breaking news, blogs, twitter, youtube and the like.
Twitter and FriendFeed both seem to allow us to interact with our followers one-on-one, skipping past our story commenting sections (which is extremely popular, but more than we can respond to, and only occasionally above and beyond political partisanism) and into immediate dialogue.
We don't have a large tech crew, or enough hours in the day for all the ways we'd like to keep reaching out and connecting people with our content, but we're fans of FriendFeed and its possibilities.

I agree! Great step they took going on Friendfeed--very cutting edge indeed. I got a subscription from them the other day.
Wonder if the San Jose Mercury News is on there yet.
