You raise some great points (and I'm tempted to say, 'amen'). While I don't have nearly as many followers as you, I've adopted a similar approach to followers as I have with my other 'contacts'. Once or twice a year is I go through my outlook and if I come across someone I can't remember at all (after wracking my brain), I usually remove them from my list.
